01 Oct Epic Series Tips
Epic is a rich storytelling experience that reveals what God has to teach us through the biggest, and most epic lessons of the Bible.
For the first time in Elevate, both the Jr. and Kids skits are filmed in miniature – meaning with toys, not with live people. Children of all ages will find it’s unique and creative style amusing and engaging. You can join us behind the scenes of the filming of Epic by watching this video. And don’t worry, even though the skits are ‘mini’, the environmental graphics will be ‘life-sized’.
Epic Jr. Highlights:
Snarly the Dinosaur, Bible Lessons, and the new Jr. Song “Big, Big Love”.
In EPIC Jr., children ages 3-6 will join Suzie Stitches the doll, Bill Quackers the rubber duck, and Snarlie the dinosaur as they head out on an EPIC Toy Adventure! They’ll go on adventures to places like the mountains, the beach, the jungle, and even to the moon! It’s a great series for younger children to learn the big, foundational stories of the Bible: stories like the Exodus from Egypt, Joshua and Jericho, David and Goliath, and Jesus walking on the water!
This series DOES follow the normal “Elevate Jr. Format”, and has many ‘firsts’ for Elevate Jr. Most notably is the skit style – the characters in the skits are all toys and for the first time in Elevate Jr. the skits are segmented into three parts that are spaced out through the Classroom Lesson. In this style, the toys, along with the children, learn as the lesson progresses. Another exciting first for Elevate Jr. is the additional time to review the Bible Lesson in the Teacher and Co-Teacher format in this new series. Current Elevate users will recognize the activity style as being similar to other Jr. series like Make Things Industries Jr. or The Great Race Jr.
Epic Kids Highlights:
Bible Memory Activities, Epic Bible Lessons, silly ‘mini’ skits, and new Kids Song “Heroes” – the hit single from Radio E on iTunes.
In EPIC Kids, children ages 6-12 will experience the biggest and most amazing lessons of the Bible! Children will learn about worship, obedience, being prepared, boldness, courage, peace, salvation, and the importance of a good attitude during difficult circumstances. These Bible Stories are where epic things happen, from miracles to nation-changing events. This theme is big because God has big lessons to teach us and He knows how to teach in big ways! This series focuses on teaching the children how epic God’s Word is.
This series contains Epic activities to help the children memorize God’s Word and learn the skills to study God’s Word. The Opening Activities and Weekly Activity both focus on navigating through the Bible and are worth spending the time on. There is an easy version and a full version of these activities and it is very important to watch the Small Group demonstration video to know exactly how to do these.
The Bible Lesson is brought alive from a stage with colorful and dramatic animation behind it, similar to a theater style. For the first time the entire Perform It Live Bible Lesson animation and music is in one cue. This helps the lesson flow and gives it a much more EPIC feel.
The skit style of this series is different from the regular “Elevate Kids” style in a few ways. This exciting skit style varies from other series, meaning children will use their imagination in “Not So Epic Theatre” to find out what could have happened if the people in the Bible Lesson had made the wrong decisions. With this style the Teacher Script AND the additional video elements draw a clear line between what could have happened in the Bible, thankfully, is not what happened. We try to show that without God moving in big ways, and without people following God, these stories would be the opposite of EPIC. The “Not So Epic Theatre” is a ‘miniature theatre,’ purposefully designed to make the story telling silly. To perform this live, a drama team would use small toys, or perform it live-action with multiple people.
We look forward to seeing any stage pictures or series pictures from your children's ministry! Feel free to post them on our Facebook wall so others can see how you use EPIC! Or, check out our Pinterest page for decorating ideas.
